Former Georgia head coach Jim Donnan doesn’t want to predict the outcome of Saturday’s game between South Carolina and the Bulldogs, but he will predict good things for the Gamecocks under head coach Will Muschamp. Watch South Carolina Vs Georgia football.

“Very impressed with Will, I have always liked Will as a coach,” Donnan told The State prior to speaking to the Columbia Touchdown Club on Thursday. “He didn’t inherit as good a team as we’ve got, but he’s done a good job of winning the close games, which you have to do when you’re turning the corner. The name of the game is getting players and I think that’s what he’ll do like (Georgia head coach Kirby Smart) has done.

Donnan spoke to the club two days before the Gamecocks play his former team. The No. 2 Bulldogs (8-0 overall, 5-0 SEC) host South Carolina (6-2, 4-2) at 3:30 p.m. in Athens, Ga., on Saturday. Donnan had a 40-19 record from 1996-2000 at Georgia. He was the SEC coach of the year in 1997. He was 64-21 at Marshall before taking the Georgia job

This is latest in season teams have played since 1939, when game was played on Nov. 18. … Georgia is South Carolina’s first ranked opponent this season. The Gamecocks were 1-4 against Top 25 teams in 2016, with a win over No. 18 Tennessee. … South Carolina’s three-game winning streak came against Arkansas, Tennessee and Vanderbilt, a combined 1-14 in SEC. … Georgia has won last two in series and three of four. … Georgia is 31 for 31 in red zone possessions, including 22 touchdowns. … Georgia RB Nick Chubb is one of only eight players in SEC history with at least 4,000 career yards rushing (4,189), including 765 yards and nine TDs this season.

Georgia is on an absolute roll. What a magical season the Bulldogs are witnessing. Not only has Georgia (8-0) risen to the occasion in the face of adversity very early in the season, the Bulldogs have found ways to destroy their opponents, especially in their last four SEC East games against Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Missouri and last week, against Florida.

Now, with South Carolina Vs Georgia on Saturday, the top spot in the initial College Football Playoff (CFB) rankings and three more weeks of games against Auburn, Kentucky and Georgia Tech, this would not be the time for the Bulldogs to become complacent or relaxed.
